Process to be followed by an applicant provider not accredited by any EQTA:
Training provider accreditation or programme approval is awarded against designated trade, SAQA registered qualifications and individual unit standard to offer institutional training.
Accreditation Process
Primary Accreditation
Applicant provider may acquire the accreditation documents from the nearest merSETA Regional Office or access from the website (training and quality assurance – accreditation), namely application forms, provider self evaluation form and criteria and guidelines for accreditation.
The Quality Assuror will conduct the evaluation site visit and give feedback on shortcomings to the applicant provider. If all requirements are met, Quality Assuror will submit a recommendation to Head Office.
Complete the forms and send to the nearest Regional Office. Contact the Client Liaison Officer or Quality Assuror at the Regional Office for guidance and support.
Quality Assuror’s recommendation will be evaluated and tabled at the ETQA Review Committee meeting that is held every six weeks. The ETQA Review Committee’s decision will be communicated to the applicant provider.
Accreditation Process
Secondary Accreditation
Provider must contact primary ETQA with regard to extension of scope (through SETA ETQA MoU) to merSETA programme (trade or qualification or individual unit standard). The ETQA will inturn send the request to merSETA.
The applicant will send back the documents to merSETA and a Quality Assuror will be assigned.
Quality Assuror’s recommendation will be evaluated and tabled at the ETQA Review Committee meeting that is held every six weeks.
On receipt of the request from the other ETQA, the merSETA will send the programme approval requirements, namely application form, assessor registration form and learning programme evaluation form.
The Quality Assuror will conduct the evaluation site visit and give feedback on shortcomings to the applicant provider. If all requirements are met, Quality Assuror will submit a recommendation to Head Office.
The ETQA Review Committee’s decision will be communicated to the applicant provider.
